Then one amazing night, he lets down his walls, only to leave me the next day.

Years have passed, and I’ve tried to move on with my life. But I still dream of him. I still miss him everyday. The memories haunt me. How can I look to the future when my past remains a mystery? The time has come to find the boy who stole my heart and ran away without a word.

But not everyone who is lost wants to be found.

My name is Alexandra Fontaine, and this is my story of unfinished love.

Jena's Review

"Tell me something, West. Tell me something I don't know."

This book .... I can guarantee that this book will be one of my top ten reads of 2015 at the end of the year. This was my first book hangover of the year. How bad was it? I made teasers to help ease the pain of letting this book go. A lot of teasers!! J.A. Derouen could be one of the best authors ever for letting me talk to her about this book and make teasers like an obsessed fan-girl. That's not what I am ... Right?!?!

So this book ... I really like books that you get a little new adult genre AND a contemporary romance. It's a two-for!! So we start out with meeting young West and Alex. It was everything I love about that first meeting. It was anxious and exciting and just wonderful!! It was filling with angst and denial and so much love. It as also a friends to romance situation. It seriously had EVERYTHING I love. It was like J.A. thought I don't know who Jena is ... but I will write this for her!! And boy oh boy did she deliver.

"West gently touches my chin, raising my eyes to him. He smiles sweetly and flips a lock of my hair in his hand, leaning closer. "I think it's adorable. Wild, wavy blond hair, blackened lips, and unmentionables worth mentioning? That's the stuff dreams are made of."

And throughout it all, J.A. did a really good job of portraying West's struggle to stay ahead. I wanted to highlight all of his comments about just always falling behind. It was so relate-able. She did an amaz

ing job of portraying the feelings. Tell me who hasn't thought this.

"I'm so fucking tired of running to stand still."

Then we move on to an older Alex and her finally searching for West. It is a nail-biter. And I don't want to give anything away but it was so intense and heart-wrenching and beautiful!! I LOVED this story. I LOVED their story. The sex was hot. The issues were real. And I loved the way she dealt with them. I can't say more without giving too much away ... I will say this: West's letters ... OH. MY. GOODNESS!! They brought tears to my eyes. It hits close to home and they were just amazing.

The whole dang book was amazing!!! There aren't many quotes in this one because I made a million teasers!!! So stop what you're doing and one-click this .... IMMEDIATELY!!! Enjoy!!

Sanzana's Review:
(CONTAINS SPOILERS)
**Received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

So Jena told me about the first book of this series and she went ahead and bought it for me (I seriously love this girl and this won't be the last time I'm going to say). Needless to say, this book was just as amazing as the first (if not, even better). Sigh. This book was everything. It is the best book i've read in 2015. It made me cry, but i'm a sap so that's not really anything new.

This book features Alexandra and Weston. They have a complicated relationship, but it's second chance romance (and those are usually the best ones). Alex always spoke her mind and wasn't afraid to. And she loved West. She still does.
West is more reserved but a cutie. He's fascinated by Alex, but he sets himself on a path where he believes he doesn't deserve her. They come from two different families. When he finally gives himself to her...he leaves. Leaving Alex heartbroken and sad.

Years pass and naturally, they meet again. Unanswered questions float in the air. But now, West is suffering from a bad case of PTSD.

"My first time doesn't read like a romance novel. It's not the mind-blowing experience that writers describe. It's soul squeezing. It's heart bending. It's life-changing in its own right.
And I wouldn't change one thing."

I asked J.A. a question about West being a war amp. This is how it went:

S: Is there a reason why you made him an amputee? I mean most people would just say he had PTSD. But what's your reason for doing so?I'm just curious, it doesn't make me hate him any less if he had a leg or not.
But what's your reason for doing so?
I'm just curious, it doesn't make me hate him any less if he had a leg or not.

J.A. :That’s an awesome question. It was important for me to show the many layers of his damage. The physical injury was bad, but it paled in comparison to the PTSD. Alex initially thought it was all about the amputation, and she did what she could to alleviate that. But there was much more work to be done. I just think it made his recovery more … complicated. There was more he needed to work through and get to the bottom of. Sorry so rushed, running out the door. I hope that answers your question!

So, if that answer doesn't prove how amazing J.A. is...well...you're weird. :P

"Don't you know? You are not my burden. Never." I brush my lips lightly against his. "You? You are my gift."
