Testing the Submissive by Al Daltrey Review

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Synopsis:

Abby stood nervously before her Master in the classic submissive pose: fully nude, legs apart, wrists placed behind her back; deeply ashamed of her evident arousal. Worse, she had to recount in exact detail the proceedings of her last whipping. The whipping had been severe; as was the case with most of the clients she was commissioned to serve. Most of these clients were men, some were women, on occasion a couple, or even a group. Nevertheless her body reacted like that of a wanton whore as she retold of the sadistic punishments and extreme sexual use inflicted upon her body.

How far would her Master push her with these ‘tests’? How far would Abigail go? How many times could she stand before him blushing; yet with that unmistakable tingle? Their relationship was surely headed for a collision course. Or was it?

This story contains STRONG BDSM. While fully consensual, it includes submission, dominance, sadism and masochism. Please do NOT buy or read this if you are offended by graphic sexual descriptions including sexual violence. All characters are aged 25+, and it is recommended for an adult audience ONLY (aged 21+). This story is pure fiction and the author does not condone any violent behavior

Review:

This book is an interesting book to write a review for. I have been pondering what I will write about it for about a week. I have been trying to come up with words to explain how it made me feel. I'm probably going to end up rambling about different ways it made me feel and all kinds of things. So bear with me.

Let's get one thing out of the way; heed the author's warning that this has extreme BDSM in it. This is not for the light of heart. But if you have and open mind and love the intense stuff, then stop what you're doing and immediately go buy this book.

Ok... soooo ... This was a good book. For many reasons. One, because it was just written really, really well. This book made me feel things, this book challenged me and what I think about sex and what can turn people on. I read some scenes and was a little appalled; BUT. IN. THE. BEST. WAY!!! Does that make sense? No? Yeah, I know ... this is my struggle. Some of the scenes just made me cringe but you get the understanding of how much Abby enjoys these moments. Abby is an extreme masochist and loves to feel the shame that these moments bring and I think that is one of the best aspects of this book; the way Al Daltrey writes makes you FEEL her shame, but you also feel how she is turned on. Reading this book just made me think more than a usual BDSM book. It takes it one step further and really challenges the reader to question what turns them on. How far would you go to get what you want? Do you understand yourself enough to be comfortable in these situations? Abby is and I love it.

Then there is this romance between Lewis and Abby. It has to be one of the most understated romances in a book ever. You hear so very, very little about them, but dear god, you sure as heck feel the romance building. There are a few scenes where they actually interact through a majority of the book and I was so in-love with their love it was ridiculous. It was wonderful!! Maybe, it is built up with being able to feel how much Abby wants to make Lewis happy and proud. One of the first "tests" that Lewis puts Abby through I almost wanted to cry because I could feel her shame. This was a borderline shame that wasn't something that turned Abby one, hence why it was so sad. But at the same time I felt her need to do as Lewis asks and I think that is how the love story is built up. Because I believed it.

Another aspect of the book is how Al talked about consensual and non-consensual. There are moments where most would be in shock at the accepting behavior in their group, but there is a clear line drawn to show what is not acceptable. I am intrigued with the fact that Mr. Daltrey is a Dominant himself. It gives a different spin on the stories; maybe it makes it seem more realistic. I'm not sure, but I do find it intriguing.

I find this book to be one of the most intense, depraved, sexy, and passionate books I've read. It was a phenomenal way to end 2014 and I cannot wait to read Al Daltrey's second book, A Condo With Two Views, when it comes out. I love a book that asks a lot of me to read and this one didn't disappoint. So be sure to click the purchase links below and enjoy!!
